CREATIVES. ARTISTS. MUSICIANS. PERFORMERS. ICONS.
ENJOY THE SELECTION OF INDIVIDUALS THAT INSPIRE, DRIVE, AND INFLUENCE US AND OUR WORK. IT IS EITHER THEIR CRAFT, THEIR WAY OF DOING THINGS, OR THE PURE PASSION AND COMMITMENT THAT WE SEEK MOTIVATION IN. IT'S THEIR VALUES AND THE EYE FOR DETAILS THAT WE ASPIRE. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.

Creator of the week - Teddy Santis
Teddy Santis, founder and creative director of nostalgia-drenched menswear line Aimé Leon Dore. He grew up in New York City and founded Aimé Leon Dore in 2014.
After a few years of steady growth, and product iteration, in 2017 the brand started to hit its stride and Santis engaged in a partnership with New Balance.
Since then, ALD’s 1990s New York aesthetic has taken over streetwear conversation, and its Nolita flagship has become a grazing ground for streetwear devotees.

Creator of the week - Sam Cooke
If you've ever seen the movie One Night in Miami..., you know Sam Cooke was a central part of the Civil Rights Movement. He used his influence and popularity with the White and Black communities to fight for the cause of equality during the 1960s.
Though considered only a modest hit by his high standards, Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" turned into an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, and is heralded as the singer's magnum opus. Other standout tracks in Cooke's impressive catalogue include "Summertime," "Little Red Rooster," and "Twistin' the Night Away."

Creator of the week - Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali was ‘more than just a Boxer’. He was a Black, Muslim man in Pre-Civil Rights Era America and he would go on to be an activist for the remainder of his life.
Ali was called a terrorist for his affiliation with the Nation of Islam, Radical for his close relationship with Malcom X and was deemed ‘un-American’ for his name change (from Cassius Clay), despite his Gold medal at the 1960 Olympics for the USA.
He did not ‘transcend race’. Ali was the Blackest version of himself, and was proud to be.

Creator of the week - Jean-Michel Basquiat
When looking at Jean-Michel Basquiat’s The Ring (1981), one can’t help but see a revelation, a self-portrait of sorts ushering in a new era for black artists the world over. There, standing in a bold, red boxing ring is a polka-dot-shorts-wearing athlete holding a spear high above his wild-haired head.
The image of boxing alone naturally leads one to conjure up images of struggle, challenge, resistance, and undoubtedly victory and strength. Without question, these would become the unmistakable touchstones of Basquiat’s work.

Adding to the excitement, she sported dark shorts instead of the team-issued white ones, making a bold statement for human rights.

The german photographer Juergen Teller does not distinguish between his commercial and non-commercial work, treating all of his subjects - family members, celebrities, and himself - with a uniform style of grit and raw emotion that has become his iconic and instantly recognisable aesthetic.

Creator of the Week - Daniel Arsham
NEW YORK BASED ARTIST DANIEL ARSHAM STRADDLES THE LINE BETWEEN ART, ARCHITECTURE AND PERFORMANCE. Simple yet paradoxical gestures dominate his sculptural work: a façade that appears to billow in the wind, a figure wrapped up in the surface of a wall, a contemporary object cast in volcanic ash as if it was found on some future archeological site.
